Divers Direct has reached an agreement to acquire Pirate Island Divers, a 5 Star PADI Instructor Development Resort at the Key Largo Marriott Beach Resort in Key Largo, Florida.

With the deal expected to close on May 1, Divers Direct and Pirate Island Divers will be joining forces, according to a press release.

Brian Napier, founder and owner of Pirate Island Divers, will be joining the Divers Direct management team as Director of Water Operations and Experiences.

“We are thrilled to join the Divers Direct family with whom we share the same vision of providing the best possible experience for our customers,” said Napier in the release. “With the best-in-class management of Divers Direct, as a team we will be able to provide the best of both worlds.”

As the owner for eight years, Napier is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and a U.S. Coast Guard Captain.

His contribution to Pirate Island Divers has helped the resort offer a full range of PADI courses, equipment and excursions — which have been taking place in the Key Largo location for 15 years.

President of Divers Direct, Darcy Kieran, said the current management team is looking forward to offering high-end quality experiences to water sport enthusiasts that are visiting the Marriott Beach Resort and Key Largo.

Divers Direct plans on operating the Pirate Island facility under a separate brand name related to watersports activities, which will be known as Emocean Sports.

“Divers Direct’s large retail outlets will continue to focus on selling top quality gear to scuba divers and watersports enthusiasts,” according to the release.

The experts at Divers Direct have been providing diving, swimming and boating equipment from six local dive shops throughout South Florida for more than 30 years.
