Women's Dive Watch: Abingdon Marina

The Abingdon Co. - Marina Dive Watch for Women

When Abingdon Welch couldn't find an accessibly priced luxury women's dive watch, she knew something had to be done. As she explains, “That's like making smartphones for men, while women are only given the choice of cellphones made before 2001." The young entrepreneur and CEO of Abingdon Co. took to Kickstarter to help fund an initiative to bring a luxury women's dive watch line to the market, and with one week left to go, she's about 98 percent funded.

While the company is known for its women's pilot watches, the new watch — Marina — will be a dive watch for women that offers as much function as it does fashion. Women's scuba watches with Marina's features exist already, but they cost at least $10,000. The goal for the Marina Kickstarter campaign is to help release a women's dive watch into the market with a much more affordable starting price of $950.

"The Kickstarter campaign will play an important role in the company's goal of fostering strong ties among the powerful minority of women adventurers. We're looking forward to bringing women who scuba closer together in the same way that so many customers from our aviation line have become a community."
