Villa Blanca Wall: A northbound current carries divers past an underwater smorgasbord—fireworms, hawksbill turtles and angelfish coast amongst abundant barrel and basket sponges. The eponymous wall starts at 35 feet, towering over an otherwise low-profile reef. Villa Blanca Wall offers divers both 100 foot depths and shallow reef diving.

Punta Tunich Wall: This popular site’s brisk, propulsive currents wax and wane, making the Punta Tunich Wall a thrilling, if unpredictable, drift dive. A sandy ocean flat runs 120 feet down, the reef wall rising between 60-80 feet, toward a plummeting drop off. Divers glide past nurse sharks, eagle rays and the occasional barracuda hugging the coral ridges.

Drift Pro Tip: Learn to spot natural rest stops to duck out of the current. Small caves, coral heads and other large structures can give divers a much-needed break.

Palancar Gardens: Palancar Gardens delivers big and small: towering coral formations and cozy cleaning stations. The wall starts at 25 feet, but steps down to 3,000 feet or more. After spiraling down an 80-foot drop, you’ll drift at 2 knots gliding through a maze of monumental structures stuffed with gigantic elephant ears and swinging rope sponges.

Drift Pro Tips: Keep neutral buoyancy in mind when drifting. Small changes to your breathing and subtle body movements will allow you to coast comfortably among the ridges and corals.
