Divers around the world find community and friendship by joining PADI Club. This month, we hear from passionate diver and sustainable health advocate Felipe Martins who joined the fun on both PADI Club trips in 2023 to Belize and Bonaire.

What is your occupation?

I’m a content producer focused on sustainability. I am also the national coordinator of the Brazilian Red Cross and president of ISAS, an institute that brings health to indigenous peoples.

What other types of activities do you enjoy?

When I’m not diving, I’m working on projects that drive impact, I’m ideating, and I’m looking for partners and visiting communities.

How did you first discover scuba diving?

My brother introduced me, and we began documenting our adventures. This led me to my career in content production. Over time, I discovered the potential to make a positive impact on both the environment and Brazilian communities.

Do you plan to continue your diver training in some way?

Definitely. I’m a master scuba diver who now wants to become a dive professional. Interactions with experienced PADI instructors at recent events inspired me. Their thorough analysis during dives made me feel secure, and it motivated me to pursue my PADI Divemaster certification.

Which benefits of PADI Club do you use and enjoy?

My favorite benefit is Scuba Diving, a magazine that taught me a lot about diving and its technology. Another is access to exclusive dive trips in beautiful locations, with all logistics taken care of.

What is your favorite dive experience to date?

This is a difficult question to answer, as each destination is special, both for its marine life and for the experiences. But the trip that took my breath away was the PADI Club trip to Belize. Before, I was a little afraid of sharks, but in Belize that changed. I learned about their behavior, and I fell in love.
