FEATURES
The Testers’ Choice in the $350 to $500 category, the Zeagle Onyx earned high marks in both simulated and real-world dives. The internal design of the first stage allows direct airflow to reduce turbulence and increase performance. Additional features include a high-flexibility braided LP hose, lightweight second stage and com- pact exhaust tee. The Zeagle tore through the lab tests, racking up excellent scores and consistent breathing efforts. During real-world tests, the only below-average comment from our testers was the inconvenient LP-port configuration, with the fifth port directly behind the diver’s neck. It was the only reg in its price range to average 4 or greater on all ergonomic tests, and the Onyx breathed well in all positions, was easy to purge, and the venturi lever and cracking pressure knob were easy to operate.
BOTTOM LINE
Great performance under all conditions makes the Onyx a Testers’ Choice in the $350 to $500 category.
